Heather Pelletier launches Nature’s Boardroom redefining what a meeting or event can be.

February 16, 2022 Press Release:

Company gatherings have shifted from boring rooms to boring zooms, so what’s next?

First, some context.

The great resignation, pandemic disruptions, and cultural uprisings have fundamentally changed how people feel about their work.  Pay and equity are clearly fundamental but what about the 73 billion dollar industry around employee engagement?  Pizza parties, ping pong tables, or even a leadership fishing trip are clearly no longer going to cut it.

Engagement is more important than ever for today’s workforce, but the path to fully engaged teams requires fostering connection, finding meaning, and providing the skills to succeed.  This is where Nature’s Boardroom has changed the game. They are breathing life into team meetings through a simple walk in the woods.

They explore lessons from nature as a way to drive leadership, problem solving, teamwork, wellness, and neurodiversity.  Their workshops are a mix between a training seminar, team-building, and eco-tour.  By incorporating new technologies into their app, a room with audio-visual isn’t necessary to listen, learn, and interact. All of this is done while gently strolling in the healing environment of the forest; a setting proven to sharpen the mind, make conversations easier, and reduce stress.

Prior to the pandemic, owner and lead producer/facilitator Heather Pelletier had worked in the corporate meetings and events industry at various agencies as an account director for fortune 500 companies.  She was known for her creativity and innovative solutions but was starting to feel the industry was lagging behind the times.  Her clients talked a lot about corporate social responsibility, sustainable practices, wellness, and recognition, but she didn’t see very much meaningful action.  There just wasn’t the motivation from within companies to truly do things differently.  Then came March of 2020.  The world shut down.  With the industry on sleep mode, and finally having the time to breathe, Heather knew her next step would include living more into her values.  It was the time to bring her ideas into the world. These ideas make up the core of Nature’s Boardroom.

  1. The best environment for learning and connecting is in nature.  Walking in the forest improves health, sharpens the brain, and leads to more productive conversations.

  2. Traditional meetings are broken and meeting rooms box us in.  Virtual meetings cause disconnect and fatigue.  The solution lies in adopting new technologies and choosing new ways of gathering.

  3. Learning and networking don’t have to be separate.  The best way to learn is to discuss.  Discussion leads to connection.

  4. Nature has a lot to teach us if we listen.  Ecosystems are not unlike the systems in our own life. The answers are yours to discover and most will realize it involves much more cooperation than competition.

Nature’s Boardroom offers in-person, hybrid, and virtual workshops all designed to take place while walking in the forest. They will soon also offer subscriptions services to their content. The head office is in Vancouver with an additional office in Victoria, but services are offered throughout North America.

Heather Pelletier is also launching Nature’s Playground, a division of her company that offers group activities in Vancouver. These are experiences that Heather always thought should exist, so she decided to create them herself. The brand caters to the group leisure market and is perfect for incentive groups or local companies looking for a team-building or team-bonding activity.
